Behind the scenes: meet the Riverstone general managers shaping later living

Share:

At Riverstone, we’re redefining what later life living can be, by combining opulence with genuine community.

This vision is led by exceptional people, including General Managers Anthony Thwaites at Riverstone Kensington and Edward Young at Riverstone Fulham. Both bring five-star hospitality expertise to their roles, creating vibrant communities where residents live fulfilling, connected lives.

Anthony Thwaites

General Manager
Rivestone Kensington

Anthony, a hospitality professional who once dreamed of being a chef, now takes pride in bringing that same dedication to his work with residents. “Building personal connections is what I love most. Here, we’re able to create long-term relationships, making the experience unique and rewarding.”

Edward Young

General Manager
Rivestone Fulham

Edward, whose career has spanned high-end resorts worldwide, was similarly drawn to Riverstone’s mission. “The chance to bring five-star service to later living is rare, and Riverstone does it in a way that truly prioritises residents’ independence and wellbeing.”

Both Anthony and Edward’s roles are about more than just overseeing operations – they’re there to create a sense of home.

Every day, they focus on crafting memorable experiences, whether that’s an intimate chef’s table event, or resident-led gatherings that celebrate shared passions. “It’s the people joining us and the weekly list of events happening, that makes this place feel extraordinary,” says Anthony.

Beyond the meticulously crafted spaces and amenities, it’s this focus on community and connection that sets Riverstone apart.

Both General Managers focus on creating a sense of home and facilitating active engagement. They help oversee an impressive calendar of events, ensuring residents have access to a rich variety of experiences – far from the notion that retirement means giving things up. “The choice of activities here is incredibly diverse,” says Anthony. “From chef’s table events to resident-led gatherings, we’re able to offer something for everyone, sparking new interests and passions.”

Edward shares, “Our residents’ stories are remarkable, and the daily conversations are what I look forward to most.” The pair believe this supportive, social atmosphere makes Riverstone not just a place to live, but a place to thrive.

For both, the success stories are in the smiles and sense of belonging felt across the residence. Anthony recalls the first day Kensington opened: “Watching the first residents settle in was a powerful reminder of what Riverstone is all about – a fresh chapter, full of possibilities.”

Riverstone is leading the way in creating meaningful, connected later-life experiences, and Anthony and Edward look forward to bringing this vision to life each day.
