In conversation with Sam Torrance

Share:

14 December

Professional golfer Sam Torrance recently joined us at Riverstone Fulham to host our first event for residents, both current and potential, in the latest amenity, the golf simulator. At the event, Sam discussed his illustrious career from winning the famed European Tour twenty-one times, to playing in the Ryder Cup on eight occasions whilst captaining the European Ryder Cup team to their victory at The Belfry in 2002. Currently, Sam is a familiar friend on screens such as Sky Sports and BBC as a golf commentator, the sport where he earned his legendary status.

Also in attendance was Carly Booth, a British professional golfer who became the youngest ever Scot to qualify for the Ladies European Tour. Winning three times and representing Great Britain and Ireland in the seventy-six-year history of the Curtis Cup.

Sam Torrance opened the golf simulator with his famous swing and started the nearest the pin competition at the famous ‘postage stamp’ at Royal Troon. Riverstone Fulham Sales Director, Will Clark launched the competition with a competitive swing which made it hard to beat. All our guests participated as well as some of the Riverstone team such as Co-Founder Julian Mercer and Riverstone Chair Penny Hughes. Unfortunately for Will, his distance from the pin was beaten and the winner, a Riverstone guest, received a bottle of Riverstone Champagne and a signed book from Sam Torrance.

Drinks and Italian canapés were provided by Robin Gill’s riverside restaurant Maria G’s whilst guests relaxed in the latest Espresso Bar and had their questions of interest answered by both Sam and Carly.

The event was the first one held in the simulator and was a great chance to show guests how it works with none other than two accomplished professional players. Tours of the residence were also available where guests could visit the other amenities such as the spa, vitality pool, gym and salon.
