27 January Press release: London TV
A significant milestone in the development of King’s Road Park, a new neighborhood in the South Fulham Riverside Regeneration Area, has been reached with the topping out two 15 and 13-storey buildings.
The topping-out ceremony on Thursday 16th January saw representatives from St William (part of the Berkeley Group), Riverstone and EPR Architects gathered to mark the completion of the structural frame. These two adjoining buildings will provide 142 exceptional later living residences alongside a mix of amenity space and facilities.
At King’s Road Park St William is transforming a 16-acre former gasworks into a sustainable neighbourhood set within a beautiful park. Part of the Chelsea Design district, this new part of London will create over 1,800 new homes, including 35% affordable homes, and 100,000 sq. ft. of commercial space for a mix of restaurants, bars and offices.
Several heritage assets within the site are being carefully restored, including a Grade II listed gasholder (thought to be the oldest in the world) two Grade II* listed buildings and two war memorials. The development will have a parkland, building on the existing qualities of the local area and featuring a series of interlinked green spaces and over 130 newly planted trees.
Once the building is complete, Riverstone will take ownership of 142 apartments, comprising a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom high-quality apartments and a collection of four penthouses. There will also be over 23,000 sq. ft. of amenity space available for Riverstone’s residents to enjoy, including a club lounge, restaurant, private dining room, outdoor dining space, bar, fitness suite including vitality pool, private meeting room and a library. The restaurant in the Riverstone residence will also be open to the wider neighbourhood.
Dean Summers, Divisional Managing Director of St James and St William (part of Berkeley Group), said: “This topping out is another big step forward in the creation of this exciting new neighborhood in the heart of Fulham. Alongside Riverstone and our fantastic local partners we are transforming this long disused gasworks into a thriving part of the local community. Once complete the development will include a wide mix of homes and a range of amenities, whilst also retaining and repurposing a number of historic buildings and landmarks to ensure the history and character of the site is retained for years to come.”
